SDN Infrastructure Showcased at Taipei World Trade Center Hall 3
July 18 , 2016
Taiwan’s SDN/NFV Industry Alliance is showcasing the revolutionary SDN infrastructure at Taipei World Trade Centre Hall 3. The alliance is supported by Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute, Agema Systems, EstiNet Technologies, Xinguard Technologies, Realtek Semiconductor Corp, Institute for Information Industry (III) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). This infrastructure boasts the latest SDN solutions and has provided unparalleled network performance at recent exhibitions such as the 2016 COMPUTEX TAIPEI, the Taipei International Jewelry and Branded Goods Outlet Exhibition, and the Taipei Bliss Bridal Photography and Beauty Styling Exhibition. SDN is known for its flexibility in programming and control. The SDN infrastructure at Taipei World Trade Centre Hall 3 allows greater control and a faster network for users, and it successfully demonstrates the innovative value of SDN technology.
In recent years, the Software Defined Networking (SDN) has completely transformed traditional network infrastructure from a dissipated model to a more centralized model. This allows the development of a more standardized and simplified network infrastructure and as a result, network operations become more flexible and effective. SDN is bringing new business opportunities to the IT industry. According to the latest survey results from IHS, network operators will invest nearly US$8.7 billion in 2020, while focusing on three major areas—SDN hardware, SDN software, and services. The market is experiencing up to 98% annual compounded growth. SDN has been labelled one of the most critical technologies for future network development and it is having a revolutionary impact.
The SDN infrastructure built at Taipei World Trade Centre Hall 3 applies the latest SDN Controller, OpenFlow Switch, and more. It was co-built by Chunghwa Telecom Research Institute, EstiNet Technologies, Agema Systems, Xinguard Technologies, Realtek Semiconductor Corp, Institute for Information Industry (III) and the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). The SDN infrastructure’s value and performance are best observed at Taipei World Trade Centre’s high-traffic halls where it demonstrates unparalleled broadband control, quality of service (QoS), information security, and more. In this dynamic location, the new-generation SDN network infrastructure fully highlights its flexible network functions and innovative service value.
The showcase at Taipei World Trade Centre Hall 3 gives the public a good look at the latest developments and research findings of SDN technology. It is a success story of Taiwanese operators working together and using their own SDN products. The showcase has also raised Taiwan’s own SDN critical technology development capabilities and accelerated domestic SDN industry supply chain integration. The competitiveness Taiwan’s SDN industry is greatly enhanced with these diverse and innovative SDN applications and services .
